Sports Photography
If I could go back in time and tell my beginner-photographer self that I’d be offering sports photography, she would laugh, shake her head, and walk away—because there was absolutely no way I’d ever do that.
Well, guess what? I’m doing exactly that!
I was an Irish dancer. I loved the sparkles, the dresses, and the performance aspect. The thought of chasing a ball through the mud, freezing in an ice rink, or stepping foot in a locker room? My personal nightmare.
My family wasn’t into sports either. Being from England, it’s almost expected that you have a favorite football (soccer) team. But I don’t think I even watched a football game until my 20s.
Fast forward to when I met my husband—whose hobbies included video games, playing guitar, and hockey.
I think it’s important to at least try one of your partner’s interests. He became passionate about animals for me, so I figured it was only fair to give one of his hobbies a shot. Learning an instrument was out of the question (my short-lived flute-playing days in school made that clear!), so between hockey and video games, I chose the one where I could at least be on my phone while watching the game!
Then came the opportunity to photograph a celebrity hockey tournament in Halifax. I immediately said yes—mainly so I could bring my husband along because I knew he’d love it!
Over the years, I had developed a slight appreciation for sports, but I still walked into that event thinking it was mostly for him.
And that’s why I’ve decided to start offering sports photography in Nova Scotia!

I’ve never been a sports fan. Back in school, I had mastered the art of looking like I was playing soccer, ball hockey, and football—all while skillfully avoiding the ball.
So, we started watching hockey games together. Then the whole 2024 Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce Super Bowl happened, and suddenly, I found myself learning the very complicated rules of football—all while proudly wearing my friendship bracelets.
Turns out… I love photographing sports! I had no idea how much emotion and artistry could come from it.
